The Knoxville School Board is split on their opinions of what to do with the future of the GOAL Alternative School Building at this time. A public hearing was held at the meeting last night, to get input from citizens on whether or not they think the district should sell the building to the Marion County Extension Office for their bid of $100,000. No public comments were made and each board member voiced their opinion on the topic. Board Member Tim McDonald made a motion to sell the building, saying the district needs to start saving money immediately, Mark Mahoney seconded the motion. Stephanie Vickroy and Jeff Wallace voted against the motion, saying they wanted to know exactly what would happen with the future of the GOAL program before they could support selling the building, board member Leslie Miller abstained. Superintendent Dr. Randy Flack will now put together specific details on options for the future of the GOAL School program and present it to the board at their next meeting. The Extension Office has given the district until their October 5th meeting to decide whether or not to approve their offer.
