Authorities say Marion County residents were not impacted by the anhydrous leak in Lacona yesterday. Marion County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeff Anderson tells KNIA/KRLS news the National Weather Service constructed a map of where the chemical that was blown into the air yesterday morning would spread to and Marion County was not included in the impacted communities. Rescue crews were called to the leak at approximately 10:15am yesterday when a large anhydrous ammonia tank at the South Central Cooperative tank farm ruptured sending the chemical into the air and causing temporary, voluntary evacuations of some Lacona homes and businesses.
