Another 1.36” of rain fell over Marion County in the overnight hours causing flooding issues on several roadways and area rivers. According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, there was approximately 5 inches of water over highway 163 near mile marker 36 around the 1700 block near Otley this mornin, along with water over the roadway at the 1200 block of T-17. Highway 92 near Oskaloosa remains closed due to water over the road. The sheriff’s office urges motorists to use extra caution when traveling in these areas. In addition, as of 6:00 this morning, the Cedar Creek near Bussey and English Creek near Knoxville are more than 6 feet above flood level.

No one was injured in a single vehicle accident highway 163 caused by water on the roadway early this morning. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an accident at the 1700 block of 163 just before 3:00 this morning. A preliminary investigation shows that a 2006 Honda Civic with Marion County license plates was traveling eastbound on highway 163 this morning when the driver hydroplaned and lost control. The vehicle entered the south ditch and was submerged into the flood waters. The driver escaped the vehicle through the sunroof with no injuries. The accident remains under investigation by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
