Nearly 400 first-year students and incoming transfers converged on the Central College campus Saturday. After getting some help moving into their new surroundings from a number of volunteers, the students were welcomed to campus by another new face – first-year president Mark Putnam.

The move-in day began “Welcome Week” at Central, which will also include a picnic at Putnam’s home, sessions on various topics and Central’s “Dinner on Us,” where first-year students are welcomed into the homes of faculty, staff and alumni for dinner. The first day of classes at Central is Wednesday.
