With Summer sports now officially over, the focus quickly changes to Fall sports, which is now just a few weeks away.

With team football practices in Iowa officially allowed to start next Monday, most programs, including both Pella and Pella Christian, use this week to get an extra unofficial week of practice in with team camps.

Pella Christian will hold camp each day this week for students entering grades 4-12, while Pella had a camp for 5th and 6th graders last week and is holding camp this week for students entering grades 7-12. Although coaches are somewhat limited to what they can do during camp since practices are not allowed until next week, they do use this week to get all the players together and begin workouts including drills, skills, techniques, offensive and defensive schemes, along with running and conditioning work.

Pella Christian’s camp for 4th through 6th graders will run from 9-11 am while the 9th through 12th graders camp is from 6-9pm. Pella High will run their camp for 7th and 8th graders from 4:15-5:45pm with the 9th through 12th graders camp from 5-9pm.

Official practices begin next week and the season openers will be Friday August 27th when Pella travels to Newton and Pella Christian hosts Des Moines Christian.
