Having to go from summer break to running several miles a day can be challenging enough, but this week’s weather has added another set of hurdles for the Pella Christian cross country team. Head Coach Jocilyn Meinders says the team was hoping to practice on the Central College course today, but soggy conditions has forced her to re-think that.

In addition to all of the rainfall, heat index readings well over 100 degrees have meant either early morning or late evening practices for the Eagles, though Meinders says to an extent, it’s good for the team to get used to running in the heat to prepare for early season meets. And just to prove that she’s not working the team too hard, Meinders says she’s been running with the girls and boys herself – just to make sure it’s not too hot.
