The Pella football team will have a lot of new faces on offense this year, but one area that does return some talent and experience is the wide receiver position.

Three receivers return with experience for new starting quarterback Teag Klyn, and Coach Jay Mckinstrey says that is an area they fell very good about heading into Friday’s season opener. He says Josh Pringle, who was their leading receiver last season before missing the last couple games of the regular season and post season with an injury returns as their top prospect, Ryan Lanke, who emerged as their top receiver filling in for Pringle last season also returns as does Travis Ewing. Mckinstrey says they also expect to use Nick Dorman at times who will also be their starting cornerback on defense as well as Trevor Wood. He also notes there are a few other players who are looking good in practice and could see time at one of the receiver positions throughout the season. Mckinstrey says they still plan to run the ball plenty, but he feels they have a strong receiving corp and when they go to the air he’s confident they can have success.

Pella opens the season at Newton Friday night. You can hear the game live with Jamie Brockman and Randy Sikkema on 92.1 FM KRLS and kniakrls.com starting with the pregame at 7pm.
