A man from Madrid, Iowa, who saved a woman from drowning at Lake Red Rock was among 17 Iowans who were honored by the Governor at the Iowa State Fair on Friday. Brad Lawson and his family were grilling at the Marina at Lake Red Rock when a nearby woman suffered a seizure and fell in the water. Lawson was able to find the woman in roughly nine feet of water and pull her to the surface and keep her head above water long enough for help to arrive – ultimately saving the woman’s life. For his efforts and reaction, Brad Lawson was awarded the Governor’s Lifesaving honor.
