The Knoxville City Council will soon begin the hiring process to find a new City Manager as Dick Schrad has announced his retirement. Schrad tells KNIA/KRLS news he plans to retire next spring and has promised the council he will help get them through another budget. No specific date has been set for exactly when Schrad will retire as he has expressed that he will stick around and help until a proper replacement is found. Schrad says it’s time to move on after his 5 years of service in Knoxville and there are other things he would like to pursue, he also mentioned that it is probably beneficial for the city to have a younger person step up and take over as City Manager.
