Those looking for a fun way to beat the summer heat made their way to downtown Pella Thursday night, for the 14th annual “Wet and Wild” Water Fight Night. In addition to the usual vendors on the downtown square, the night pitted local teams against each other as they tried to push a barrel suspended from a cable over their opponents’ heads using a fire hose. In the end, it was the Vermeer Ducks, decked in yellow ponchos and hats, that came away the victors of this year’s competition. The event was the final “Thursdays in Pella” event of the summer season.
