Those who stop by the National Guard Armory in Knoxville for breakfast this week will be able to catch a little show while they wait for their food. Two young boys from Texas travel to the Knoxville Nationals each year with their grandfather and the last few years they have volunteered as pancake flippers at the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce pancake breakfast. Each morning, the volunteer pancake makers toss the finished cakes in the air for the boys to catch on their plates before they are served to patrons. Things have gotten quite fancy as the boys are now spinning, jumping and diving to make sure none of the food goes to waste and many afternoons you can find them using the leftover pancakes to practice their skills. When asked if they do this kind of thing at home the boy replied “no, just here, we’re not usually allowed to play with our food”.
