Knoxville Zoning Administrator Cindy Glick and Police Chief Dan Losada want to remind residents and visitors that there are parking regulations that need to be obeyed. Many residents will be holding garage sales and allowing visitors to park in their lawns while in town for the Knoxville Nationals this week and it is important that the right-of-way is kept open. Glick says typically the right-of-way is the area between the sidewalk and the curb and it is illegal to park in that area. Chief Losada says having vehicles in the right-of-way poses a safety concern as it obstructs motorists’ vision and forces pedestrians to walk in the street. Those who do not obey these laws can be ticketed, fined or towed.
