The Central College football team ranks among the Division III leaders in several statistical categories at the conclusion of their two-game non-conference schedule .

The Dutch rank third nationally and first in the Iowa Conference in rushing defense after holding Augustana to a school-record minus 32 yards rushing Saturday. Central’s defense has surrendered only 57 yards on the ground in two contests.

Meanwhile, the Dutch pass rush has generated eight sacks, tied for 11th in the country. Defensive lineman Shane Wong has been the prime catalyst, reaching the quarterback 4.5 times, tied for fifth in Division III.

Quarterback Nate Snead is the league leader in total offense averaging 341 yards per game and is ranked eighth in Division III. His 349-yard performance against Augustana on Saturday and his 333-yard game in the season opener against Wis.-Oshkosh nearly eclipsed Central’s school record (351 yards) set by Tim Connell against Cornell Oct. 27, 2007.

The 7th ranked Dutch are 2-0 and slated to begin conference play Saturday against Dubuque at 1 p.m. at Ron and Joyce Schipper Stadium.
