Central Weekend Sports Recaps

Sophomore Justin Livingston fired a 1-over-par 73 to propel the Central College men’s golf team to the first-round lead at the 21-team Mount Mercy Cropper Classic Saturday. The final round will be played today starting with a 9am shotgun start.

In a loaded 19-team field holding six top-25 NCAA Division III teams, the Central College women’s golf team stands eighth after the first round of the Wartburg Fall Invitational in Waverly. The Dutch shot 368 on the par-72 Centennial Oaks golf course. Sophomore Kaurie Kincaid of Knoxville carded an 87 to tie for 17th place. The 36-hole invitational concludes Sunday.

Putting an early wrap on the home season schedule, the Central College women’s tennis team dominated Loras College 8-1 and the University. of Dubuque 9-0 Saturday. Improving to 4-1, Central had five singles players score two wins. Central’s next 10 dual meets are away from home with the Iowa Conference tournament to follow.
