With the heavy rains that flooded Iowa farms this summer, farmers are hoping to have a dry and safe harvest. Matt Kauffman of Key Cooperative says that due to the rain this summer, corn yields are significantly lower than they were last year because any ear of corn that was submerged in water is not good. Kauffman went on to say that this harvest has been pretty slow so far but people are starting to get out there and that grain elevators are carrying more corn than normal.
