Things are clicking on all cylinders for the Pella High football team with four straight shutouts and a 5-0 record, but one key area in their success is downfield blocking. Pella coach Jay Mckinstrey says that’s been a major area of emphasis the last couple years is working with their receivers to become blockers downfield to make a big play even bigger. He says Ryan Lanke, Travis Ewing and Josh Pringle have really done a great job and have bought into the fact that even though they are receivers, they have a key job to do which is blocking.

He says they also like to get the ball into their hands to let them make plays when possible, but their blocking downfield is a key area to the success of this football team and will continue to become even more important as they progress through the season and hopefully into a deep post season run.

Pella has outscored their opponents 228-14 this season and will face their stiffest test of the season to date when they travel to Mount Pleasant Friday night for a showdown between the top two undefeated teams in the district.
