The Corps of Engineers will begin their draw down of Lake Red Rock late Sunday night. U.S. Corps of Engineers Assistant Ops Manager John Holt tells KNIA/KRLS News that the target Elevation is 732 feet above sea level and their typical conservation pool is 742 feet. The purpose of the draw down is to get water off of the tainter gates so they can replace cable attachments. Holt says that the draw down will effect wildlife and hunters in the fall but this would be the best time to complete the draw down because this is the driest season. The target elevation is expected to be reached by the end of september.
