FEMA officials have informed KNIA/KRLS news a Mobile Disaster Recovery Center is scheduled to open in Marion County at 9am Monday.  John Mills, External Affairs Field Specialist for FEMA, says the recovery center will be located at 2003 North Lincoln in Knoxville and will be open from 9am-7pm Monday through Friday and 9am-5pm Saturday and Sunday as long as there is community interest.  This location will offer an opportunity for residents to talk face-to-face with FEMA employees who will inform them about available assistance, low interest loans, tips on low cost repairs and home improvements and how to prepare for future disasters.  All residents who have received any flooding or storm damage this year between June 1st and August 31st are encouraged to register with FEMA prior to visiting the disaster recovery center by calling 1-800-621-3362.

As of Thursday afternoon, FEMA has approved $15 million dollars of assistance for Iowans this year, including $322,000 for the 274 Marion County residents that have registered thus far.
