It was all Marion County at the Knoxville Cross Country Meet last night at Pine Knolls Golf Course. Knoxville outran Pella by eight points to win its own boy invitational. Jamie VanderVeer placed second to lead Knoxville who placed four runners in the top ten. Alex Edwards was fourth with Timothy Shepherd in fifth and Wick Cunningham notching his best finish of the season in seventh. Pella was paced by Zach Buchheit who was the overall winner while Michael Schemm placed tenth. Pella Christian earned a very good fourth place just ten points back of Indianola. Skyler Giddings made it a Marion County sweep in the top three with a third place run while Josh Meyer was sixth. P-C-M was ninth overall as Jesse McAtee placed 20th, Pleasantville was 11th as Bryan Koerselman came in 38th, Twin Cedars did not have a complete team Eric Clarke was the highest finishing Saber in 55th. On the girls side, Pella’s Gabi Meirick ran away and hid from the competition to win by 20 seconds, that coupled with a fourth place from Mariah Vande Lune and Sarah Wittenberg’s ninth helped Pella to a two points win over Indianola last night. Knoxville was third paced by Alissa VanKlootwyk’s season best fifth place. Pella Christian was sixth as Sarah Brandsen came home in third. Twin Cedars placed eighth as Brittany Roby placed 18th. Pleasantville had an incomplete team as Marris Clark finished in 41st, and P-C-M also was incomplete, Lainy Wilson finished 58th.
