Low Crop Yields Mean Lower Fuel Costs

Though early reports show that this year’s crop yields could be down, Marion County Extension Office Program Director Dale Miller says there is still an upside. Many of this year’s crops were shallow rooted after a wet spring and unable to access necessary moisture during the relatively dry month of August. Miller says the positive is that contrary to last year when many producers had to deal with the fuel costs associated with drying out their crops because of the wet late summer months, this year he does not expect many farmers to have to go through that expensive process.
