Auld Park in Knoxville has a couple new additions thanks to donations from a local organization. Two race car rides were purchased by the Knoxville Optimists Club and were installed by the Street Department today. Optimist Craig Kelley says the west side of the park has few pieces of fun equipment for the younger children. He says when the city got involved in painting the equipment on the west side of the park the Optimists decided they would support our youngest by providing additional pieces for them to enjoy. Kelley states it comes down to desiring a better community. He says they can’t do everything, but the club can do something and they intend to annually add equipment to the park. The bouncy race cars cost $695 each for a total of $1,390.

Dennis Webb of the Knoxville Street Department says it’s time we get our parks back into order as things have been damaged, removed and were not replaced. He says the Optimists took the initiative to help and this equipment is a great addition to the park.
