Pella celebrates homecoming tonight as they host Centerville. The past couple years this game has been an intense rivalry between two ranked teams fighting for district championships, this year however, is a little different scenario.

Centerville graduated all 22 starters from last years team and with only eight seniors on the team this year is out to an 0-4 start and have been blown out in their last three games, while Pella is 4-0 and has recorded three straight shutouts.

Obviously Pella is a huge favorite, especially on homecoming, but Coach Jay Mckinstrey says although Centerville may be struggling, they’ll fight hard and Pella can’t afford mistakes that allow them to feel they’re able to play with Pella.
He says it’s easy for players to overlook an opponent and they’ve worked hard this week to make sure that doesn’t happen. He says they need to perform better every game no matter who they play and keep their minds on the long term goal and journey of winning a district championship and eventually a state championship.

You can hear tonight’s game live with Eric Gotschall and Randy Sikkema on kniakrls.com starting with the pre game at 7pm and kickoff at 7:30pm. There will also be a delayed broadcast at 10:30pm on 92.1 FM KRLS.
