Despite having their eyes on some highly anticipated matches on next week’s schedule, the Pella Christian volleyball team avoided the pitfalls of looking ahead on the schedule, as they throttled Newton last night in three games.  The Lady Eagles showed focus and intensity in the sweep, defeating the Cardinals 25-10, 25-12, and 25-16.  Head Coach John Evenhouse said he thought the team showcased a complete performance, highlighted by Meredith Fopma’s effort; which included a team-high ten kills and two aces, along with seven digs and three blocks.

Jenna Horstman also had an impressive night for Pella Christian, as she tallied nine kills and six blocks.  Setter Sarah Faber spread the ball around en route to tallying up 26 assists and also had four blocks of her own, while Ashley Van Kooten helped pace the Lady Eagles’ defense with 13 digs.

The victory improves eighth-ranked Pella Christian to 17-4 on the season, going into a big match at home on Tuesday against Oskaloosa.
