To say Pella has been hot so far this season is a bit of an understatement.

The Little Dutch have outscored their first three opponents 132-14 including 97-0 in the last two games and are out to a 3-o start. The Little Dutch defense has been simply amazing allowing 14 total points which came against Newton in week one, a total of 415 yards including just 187 in the last two games and have forced 5 takeaways including 3 interceptions. Coach Jay Mckinstrey says there’s no doubt their defense has been a major key to their early success.

Mckinstrey says another important thing is the offense is capitalizing and scoring when they have the chance taking advantage of the short fields and opportunities set up for them by the defense and special teams.

The Little Dutch travel to Oskaloosa tonight and the old rivalry now means a little more to both teams since it is a district game. Mckinstrey says Osky has been playing well with back to back wins and he knows they’ll come ready to play and it should be an outstanding football game.

Oskaloosa is 2-1 and 1-0 in the district and coming off of back to back wins over Newton and Centerville after falling to Grinnell in the season opener while Pella has cruised to a 3-0 start.
