The Pella volleyball team, ranked 5th in Class 3A, returns to action tonight after nearly a week off when they host South Tama in Little Hawkeye Conference action.

Pella is 2-0 in LHC action so far with sweep victories over both Newton and Oskaloosa and have won nine straight conference matches dropping just one set dating back to last season and hope to keep that streak alive tonight.

Pella is loaded with talent this year including 10 seniors and numerous players have contributed to their success. Setter Brooke Fessler, an All American candidate, is averaging nearly 10 assists per game and hitters Hali Steenhoek and Kelsi Rempe have been unstoppable with 114 and 87 kills respectively.

Defensively the Lady Dutch have been very tough as well led in blocks by Steenhoek with 23 and Fessler with 21, and leading the way in digs is Makenzie VanderMolen with 120 while Lindsay Bentzinger has 111. Serving has also been a strong point as they’ve served up 90 aces as a team led by Fessler with 27.

Pella is 14-5 overall with all five losses coming to top ten ranked teams in Class 4A. Action begins at 5:30pm tonight with the freshman and JV matches followed by varsity.
