At approximately 8:30 PM Friday the Knoxville Police Department, the Knoxville Fire Department, the Knoxville Rural Fire Department and the Iowa State Patrol were called to the report of a car accident at Lincoln and Jones in Knoxville. Upon arrival at the scene, it was determined that a car had run into a house. Officials at the scene tell KNIA KRLS news that a red mid-size sedan was traveling northbound on Lincoln when a vehicle traveling southbound began to cross the center line toward him. The driver of the sedan swerved to miss the other vehicle entering a yard just east of Lincoln near Pearl Street. The vehicle continued north through several yards until it struck the the southwest corner of a house at 1009 W. Jones. The accident occurred in a construction zone. No one was injured and the home was unoccupied at the time. Officials at the scene called city inspectors to determine if the house was safe for occupancy. Marion County real estate records show the deed to the home belongs to Clarence L. Ashburn of Knoxville. KNIA/KRLS News will provide more information as soon as it becomes official.
