It took a while to get going, but the Central College football team eventually pulled away from Simpson 38-10 Saturday afternoon.  After a scoreless first quarter, the Dutch hit pay dirt on the opening play of the second frame when Ross Doehrmann scampered in from 18 yards out. After the Storm missed a field goal on the ensuing drive, Nate Snead’s 5 yard run gave Central a 14-zip lead. Trent Heetland intercepted a Simpson pass on the next drive, setting up a Jake Viggers 27 yard field goal to give the Dutch a 17-nothing lead going into the locker room.

Central started the second half with the ball, and just four plays in, Snead hit tight end Jordan Leuschen on a career long 61 yard scoring strike to put the game out of reach. Simpson got a field goal in the third quarter, but Central got fourth quarter touchdown runs of 10 yards from Snead and 1 yard from Preston West before Simpson finished the scoring with a blocked punt for a touchdown. The Dutch are 5-1 on the season, and will play Luther next Saturday in Decorah.
