The Knoxville City Council will meet with a second consulting firm next week as they search for a new City Manager.  As previously reported by KNIA/KRLS news, current City Manager Dick Schrad has announced his retirement and is aiming to have a new person ready to take over the position by April 1st.  Last week the council met with a representative from PW Consulting Services and Monday at noon they will speak with the Brimeyer Group, who aided the council in hiring Schrad 5 years ago.  Schrad says the goal is for the council to know their options. Schrad says there are obviously advantages and disadvantages to either option as doing it themselves would save money but consulting services also contact members of the community to get their input. In addition, Schrad says search firms typically have a larger database to draw candidates from, including individuals who may not know they are a candidate but could be a good fit for the position.  After Monday’s meeting the council will decide who to move forward with the hiring process.
