Due to the federal stimulus program, the City of Pella received around $350,000. City Administrator Mike Nardini says that the city has decided to use that money for an asphalt overlay on Main Street and Oskaloosa Street from Peace Street to South Street. At the City Council Meeting on Tuesday, the council approved an extension to the contractor until May 9th because of the rain that flooded the area this summer. Nardini says that the materials that the contractor needs to complete the project come from the Durham Mine which is flooded. If the material becomes available, the project can begin this fall.
