District/Regional Cross Country meets are this afternoon around the state, and Knoxville is one of only two sites across Iowa that will host a multi-class meet. The Class 2A girls will run first at 3:30 followed by the boys, then the class 3A District/Regional will get underway. Knoxville Coach Mike Moats says the boys race should come down to three teams, Grinnell, Pella, and Knoxville for the top three. He adds the girls will have to run their best of the season to finish in the top three, but knows the home course and what his girls have done this season, there is always a chance. Moats says he has seen girls teams from Knoxville in the past where no one thought they would even be in the top three and they have won the Regional. He adds two or three of the girls have a goal of getting to the state meet if not as a team then as an individual.
