Luther College football player Chris Norton is at the beginning of a long recovery from a serious injury suffered this past Saturday in a game against Central College.
According to an online journal being kept by his family…Norton began an 8-week rehab program at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota yesterday…and has gained limited use of his arms. Central Coach Jeff McMartin said that Norton injured his neck when he hit head first into the hip of Central player Preston West on a kickoff return. McMartin says that it’s not something he hopes to ever experience again…and he hopes that no player has to go through it…but he’s optimistic that the story will have a great ending.
There was a prayer vigil for Norton last night at his high school football field in Bondurant. He is expected to be released from the Intensive Care Unit at the Mayo Clinic sometime in the next day or two.
