Pleasantville Fire and Rescue, Mercy Ambulance and Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a two vehicle accident on Jasper Street, just east of highway 5 in Pleasantville shortly after 2pm yesterday. Sheriff Ron Goemaat tells KNIA/KRLS news the driver of a red minivan fell asleep at the wheel and crossed the centerline striking a tan mid-sized sedan head-on. The driver of the sedan was transported to the hospital by Mercy Ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines with non-life threatening injuries while the driver of the van sustained no apparent injuries. The accident remains under investigation by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
