Tonight marks the showdown between the top two volleyball teams in the Little Hawkeye Conference, and they just happen to be cross town rivals as Pella, fifth ranked in Class 3A, plays at Pella Christian who’s seventh ranked in Class 2A.

Both teams are undefeated in LHC play as Pella is 4-0 and Pella Christian is 6-0, and the winner more than likely will be the LHC champions. For Pella Christian, this is their last conference match while Pella still has two more conference matches remaining next week.

The match will feature some of the top hitters, servers, setters and defenders in the state on both sides of the net as the two rivals go head to head in what will surely be an intense match. Pella is looking to win their second straight conference title.

Pella Christian fell last year 3-1 but was the only team to beat the Lady Dutch in a conference set and hopes to accomplish that again and hopefully pull the upset. Eagles coach John Evenhouse says they’re looking to increase their intensity and play top notch volleyball as they prepare for a very tough tournament at Western Christian Saturday and the looming post season while Pella coach Bob Fessler says the Lady Dutch had a goal at the start of the season to not only win a conference title, but also want to finish unbeaten in sets, so, tough as it may be, they’re looking for a sweep.

Action starts at 5:30pm tonight at Pella Christian High School with the freshman and JV matches with varsity to follow around 7:15pm.
