To say Pella Christian has been on a roll as of late would be a huge understatement. The Eagles have won five straight games and in the process have outscored their opponents 236-43. Tonight, the Eagles look to continue building that momentum when they host Clarke to close the regular season.

It’s no secret Clarke has struggled this season as they are just 1-7 overall and 1-5 in the district and have been outscored this season 272-108 . With the post season already locked up and playing a team they’’re expected to blow out, it’d be easy for the Eagles to relax, however, assistant coach Verlan Nikkel says that won’t be the case. He says they want to play their best game, avoid mistakes, execute efficiently and every time they touch the ball offensively they want to score, using this game as a stepping stone into next week’s playoffs, while defensive coordinator Al Carlson says they want to keep Clarke off the board and continue their defensive dominance.

The Eagles do have several things to play for. For example, they are 7-1 coming into tonight and a win will earn them their eighth win, which would be the most wins ever in a single season at Pella Christian. Also there is an outside chance they could still win the district if PCM would beat Bondurant Farrar by at least seven and Pella Christian beats Clarke by 13 or more points, however there’s also a scenario where they could finish as low as third and lose out on a first round home game. Nikkel says they’re aware of all the scenarios, good and bad, and they can only control what they do and he says they know what they must do to put themselves in the best position possible and that is win by 13 or more points.

On top of all that excitement, it’s also the final regular season home game for 12 seniors who have alot of pride in scoring points and holding opponents scoreless.
