With the Class 3A District seven championship already secured, the Pella High Little Dutch head to extreme Southeastern Iowa tonight for the third time in the last four weeks when they travel to Fort Madison.

With the goal of a district title already achieved, and the post season starting Wednesday, it’d be easy for the Little Dutch to let up, but, head coach Jay Mckinstrey says he’s not worried about a letdown from his team for two reasons. First, he says they are a very competitive bunch and love to play the game and really don’t know how toilet up, and second, with a win they will finish the regular season unbeaten at 9-0 for just the third time in Mckinstrey’s 14 years at the school. He says they also want to focus on improving every aspect of their game as they prepare for the post season starting on Wednesday.

The Pella defense has been nothing short of amazing this season allowing a total of 27 points through eight games, including five shutouts, and may be coming off their best overall four quarter performance of the season last week where they shut down a strong Fairfield offense and faced several tough situations due to turnovers and answered the call time after time.

Pella is 8-0 and 6-0 in district play and again will look to finish undefeated for just the third time in 14 years. You can hear tonight’s game with Eric Gotschall and Randy Sikkema live on 92.1 FM KRLS starting with pre game at 7pm and kickoff at 7:30pm. The broadcast will also be streamed live on kniakrls.com
