The top two volleyball teams in the Little Hawkeye Conference clashed last night at Pella Christian High School.  The Lady Eagles and Pella High Lady Dutch both carried unblemished league records into the match, but it was Pella High that came out with the victory, winning in three straight games.

The Lady Dutch started strong in game one and never looked back, winning 25-13 to start the match.  Pella Christian emerged unfazed in the second game, starting strong and holding a 23-20 advantage down the stretch.  However, the Lady Dutch rallied and took the second game 25-23 in what seemed to be a turning point in the match.

Game three was close throughout, with neither team holding more than a three-point advantage, until the last few points, when Pella pulled ahead to win the match with a 25-19 victory in the final game.  The Lady Dutch were led by strong serving throughout the evening and had a solid performance at the net by Kelsi Rempe.  Leading the way for Pella Christian were Paige Zylstra and Jenna Horstman, who led the Lady Eagles in blocks and kills, respectively.

With the win, Pella has all but locked up the Little Hawkeye Conference title, as they move to 5-0 in league play.  Pella Christian, meanwhile, closes out the conference schedule with a 6-1 mark and wraps up regular season play this coming week.
