The Pella High volleyball team opens the post season trail tonight when they host Carlisle in the opening round of the Class 3A Regional Tournament, and hopes the road leads to their fifth straight State Volleyball Tournament.

The 5th ranked Lady Dutch are coming off another very successful regular season, which saw them finish 35-5 overall, with all five losses coming to top ten ranked teams in Class 4A, and won their second consecutive Little Hawkeye Conference title.

Pella is led by a strong group of ten seniors this season who are determined to get back to state, and they know the trail starts tonight with Carlisle. Three of those seniors have been unstoppable up front including setter Brooke Fessler, who enters the post season with an astounding 882 assists, averaging right at 10 per game, and two heavy hitters, Kelsi Rempe who has 246 kills on the season and Hali Steenhoek who’s put down 288 kills.

Coach Bob Fessler says one big advantage for Pella in the post season is playing at home in the first two rounds. He says the girls are very tough when playing at home and can stay in a normal routine. Fessler also says they faced Carlisle earlier this year and won, but notes they do have some weapons they’ll have to be prepared for.

Carlisle enters tonight match with a record of 19-10 while Pella is 35-5. You can hear tonight’s match live with Jamie Brockman and Lisa Vandelune on 92.1 FM KRLS and kniakrls.com starting with pre match coverage at 6:45pm. First serve is at 7pm.
