With the holiday’s fast approaching and people traveling out of town, it’s more important than ever to remember to wear your seat belt. Pella Police Chief Michael Marcinkowski says that as of July of this year, a new law states that if you are not wearing your seat belt while driving, the fine is $130. Marcinkowski says that another thing that the new law states is that anyone under the age of 18 that is caught not wearing their seat belt in the back seat will also be ticketed. He says that if you are in the backseat and over 18 you are not required to wear a seat belt, but it’s always a good idea to buckle up.
