With the post season a couple weeks away, the Pella High volleyball team continues working toward their ultimate goal, winning a state championship.

Pella made their fourth straight state tournament appearance last season, and with only one starter graduating, and 10 seniors returning this year, they knew this would be a special year. One of the senior leaders on the team is Kelsi Rempe, who has really stepped up her game and become an all around player as one of their leading hitters, blockers, servers and defenders. She says to play at a championship level it takes commitment and that starts during the off season. She says she, as well as fellow seniors Brooke Fessler and Lindsay Bentzinger were part of the Iowa Rockets AAU team out of Iowa City this summer which played all summer and played in several big tournaments including National qualifiers and advanced to Nationals.

For the season, Rempe has 189 kills, 23 blocks, 155 digs, and 48 ace serves. You can hear the full interview with Rempe on tonight’s Marion County PM Sports Page show which starts around 6:30pm tonight from the downtown Pella Subway on KNIA/KRLS.
