The Marion County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Monday morning.  At the meeting a public hearing was held in regards to vacating the right-of-way on 76th Ave that leads to a 900 acre piece of public land near Lake Red Rock.  Representatives from the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers at and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources attended the meeting to speak about how vacating the right of way would eliminate access to this rich piece of land that is often used for hunting and bird watching.  County Engineer Roger Schletzbaum stated his department does not have money in the budget to fix the culvert that has collapsed on the road and the Supervisors stated concerns about the county’s liability.  The issue was tabled to be addressed again at a future board meeting and the Army Corp. of Engineers, DNR, Secondary Roads Department and Supervisors will be working together to develop a solution.
