With the draw down of Lake Red Rock well underway, work has began on the tainter gates of the dam to eventually replace the cables. Assistant Ops Manager of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Red Rock John Holt says that people haven’t noticed most of the construction on the gates yet because most of the work going on right now is prep work done by divers underwater. Holt says that weather permitting, they will begin work on the rest of the dam in the next 2 weeks because the lake is at the appropriate level. The lake level will go back up sometime in December.
