In celebration of Veterans Day the Hy-Vee stores in Knoxville and Pella will be offering a free breakfast for all Veterans this morning. Eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, coffee and other breakfast items will be available beginning at 6am at the Pella Hy-Vee and from 7-10am at the National Guard Armory in Knoxville. Later this morning the Knoxville Senior Center will host their 8th annual Veterans Day program today. This year’s theme is Celebrate Freedom and the program will begin at 10:30am at the senior center. A light lunch will be provided and the public is welcome to attend and pay tribute to our local veterans.

Marion County head of Veterans Affairs and General Assistance, Michael Kuhn encourages residents to show veterans their appreciation by stopping to thank a veteran today with a handshake or a hug. He says just a simple thank you can really make a difference.
