A rebound goal in the 25th minute by Jonathan Schroeder proved to be the game winner, as the Central College Men’s Soccer team held off Luther 1-0 yesterday in Pella. The Norse out-shot Central 10-9 for the game, including a 7-1 advantage in the second half, but Dutch goalkeeper Tim Maggard made five saves in his fifth shutout of the season.
The Central men’s soccer team is now 13-4 overall, and advances to the Iowa Conference semifinals to face top-seeded Wartburg on Friday in Dubuque. The Knights bested the Dutch 4-0 earlier this season in the only game where their opponent had more than one goal.
