The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers is looking for feedback from area residents about the Hickory Ridge Wilderness Camp. An Environmental Assessment for the Lake Red Rock Master Plan for the Hickory Ridge Acquisition and Reclassification is now available for public review and comment. Hickory Ridge is currently owned by the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation who plans to transfer ownership and management to the Army Corp of Engineers once the project is completed. As previously reported by KNIA/KRLS news, the Hickory Ridge project was recently expanded to include 200 acres of primitive camping and nature area. Hopes are to have the camp open to the public sometime in 2011.
