At 2:00am today clocks “fall back” to standard time after “springing ahead” an hour in March to begin Daylight Saving Time. The purpose of Daylight Saving Time was to save energy for war production during World War I by taking advantage of the later hours of daylight in April through October. In addition, residents are encouraged to change the batteries in their smoke detectors and test them to make sure they are in working order.
