With the possibility of snow in the forecast it’s important to remember what safety precautions need to be taken when driving in winter weather. Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada says it is crucial for motorists to slow down when there is snow or ice on the roadways. He reminds drivers that it will take longer to both slow down and get going so it is important to leave early and give yourself extra time to get to your destination. In addition, Losada says often times drivers forget how to drive in winter weather during the first snowfall and there are usually more accidents during that time so he encourages motorists to be extra alert and cautious when traveling during winter storms. Chief Losada adds that it’s also important to make sure all your windows are completely clear of any snow, ice or frost before they drive.
