Preseason rankings for high school girls basketball were released yesterday by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union with one Marion County school cracking the top ten in the season’s first poll. The Pella High Lady Dutch begin the 2010-2011 season ranked no. 5 in Class 3-A, following up a season that saw them finish 18-5 overall. The Pella girls return three starters – including a potent backcourt duo – but also return a great deal of varsity experience with a deep roster of seniors and juniors.
While no other Marion County schools were included in the girls’ preseason rankings, nearby North Mahaska begins the season ranked No. 3 in Class 1-A; and neighboring Lynnville-Sully will start at No. 7.
