The Knoxville Raceway held its 57th annual awards banquet Saturday night. The event took place at Prairie Meadows Casino. While most of the attention was on the three track champions being honored…Clint Garner in the 360s, Brian Brown in the 410s, and Steve Brazeale in the 305s there were other awards handed out as well. The Lyle Boyd Hard Charger Award went to Chad Humston in the 360s and Josh Schneiderman in the 410s. The Most Improved Driver was Danny Heskin in the 360s and Austin McCarl in the 410s. The Owner of the year was Steve Wares and Vern Harrison in the 360s and Butch Maxwell in the 410s. The Sportsman of the Year was Matt Moro in the 360s who it was revealed has not missed a regular season show at Knoxville in 15 straight seasons. The 410 Sportsman of the Year was Don Droud Jr. Rookie of the Year in 360s was Jamie Ball and the 410 Rookie of the Year was Ian Madsen. The Heritage Award was given to Doug Brown of Jackos Sprint Parts for his many years of service in the pits during race nights. Race Director Ralph Capitani revealed in his annual speech that the 51st Knoxville Nationals Saturday A-Main would for the second straight year be 50 laps. Also, driver Dustin Selvage announced he would be competing in the 410 class in 2011, and 360 Driver Johnny Anderson officially announced his retirement. According to raceway Director of Marketing Brian Stickel over 500 people attended Saturday’s event.
