The Knoxville School Board met in regular session at the GOAL Alternative High School last night. At the meeting the board received presentations from GOAL teachers on the Skills Iowa program that has been added to the curriculum. Teachers Sheri Roslien, Bud Bright and Josh Visser talked about the assessment center and tutor programs which are part of the Skills Iowa online web based program. Overall the teachers stated they were happy with the program as it offers interactive opportunities for the students and adds additional resources for the teachers as well. Principal Jill Van Woerkom says Skills Iowa is a great free program through the Iowa Association of School Boards but no sort of technology or program could replace the invaluable interaction between teachers and their students.

The board also received presentations from several middle school students about their TAG program projects, received the quarterly athletics financial report and approved the purchase of two used 2010 Chevy Impala vehicles from Motor Inn of Knoxville for $15,900 each, pending the condition approval of Business Manager Craig Mobley and Joe Klootwyk.
