The State Girls Swim Meet next weekend will have a little bit of a Knoxville flavor via Indianola. Knoxville’s Christina Ambergy makes the 25 mile one-way drive each day, sometimes twice a day to compete for Indianola High Schools Swim team. Ambergy along with her teammates have qualified for next week’s state meet in Marshalltown. Ambergy has qualified for in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:44.40 seconds and in the 400 free relay in a time of 3:50.20. Coach Kurt Lickiss said this was the finest performance of any team he has ever had in a regional meet. He added several girls posted personal record and a couple of times were at or very near school records. One performance of note…Knoxville Freshman Mallory Murphy was unable to qualify for the state meet but shaved ten seconds off her best time in the 200 freestyle. The State Girls Swim Meet is this Friday and Saturday at the Marshalltown Y-M-C-A.
